when your daddy is a dentist....

The other day Micah asked Ella if he could check out her baby tooth because her permanent tooth was already growing in behind the baby. She turns 7 this week and hadn't lost a tooth yet! I swear they are cemented in! She agreed to let him feel the baby tooth. In the blink of an eye, Micah pulled out her tooth (long root and all) and she didn't even know he had done it. It was only after he had her run to the kitchen and get tissue for the bleeding that she began to cry. She still thought he was trying to pull out the tooth, but it was really laying on the counter! :)

Man, I love me a gappy toothless smile... I have secretly been waiting for this day for a looooong time! In a matter of seconds, my baby-faced little girl suddenly looked years older. Sigh.

Ella is in for a big birthday surprise this week... I can't wait to share more!

How funny! I pulled a tooth in the dentist chair waiting for him to come pull it, I was that scared! My mom was not happy that I didn't do it before we left the house :)

How exciting! I loved it when my dad pulled my teeth out! I would always be scared but he always knew how to do it without me knowing!

Jacob has had his daddy pull both of his too. He can't stand to have a tooth loose. Insists they come out right away!
And -- FYI -- my dad was a dentist and I lost my first tooth at the age of 7. :)

LOL!! This TOTALLY reminds me of the day we were trying to talk Abby into letting us pull her loose tooth out w/ the ol' tie a string to the tooth & a doorknob trick...we were going through the steps on how we would do it (in hopes of talking her into it)...and the next thing we know Ella ran up and slammed the door...OUT IT CAME! Abby was hysterical for a few minutes, but now she loves to tell people how brave she was having one of her teeth pulled out by the door trick! :)

She totally looks older now. But she's still adorable. :) My daughter has four loose right now. I dread when they all come out. She'll be spitting everytime she talks. :)

My dad actually used the door routine (you know, tie the tooth to the door and then shut it). Tooth still didn't come out but it succeeded in causing pain!!
And, I can't believe you are getting her a new car for her birthday!

Kim,
I am wondering if our 2 daughters share the same birthday... But Anna has lost 7 teeth before 7. Too funny. Ella is just precious.
Thinking of you.

Kim,

I have been a long time "lurker" on your blog. I just wanted to say thank you for helping me through today... today has been especially hard for me. At one point this morning, I vaguely remembered reading about baby Tess on your blog. I sat down and brought your blog up....as I reread your words about Tess and your feelings, I realized that each day that comes will come with a mixture of emotions, but I will be okay. Although, I did not hold our baby girl that we were matched with,...she was so very much already a part of me and our lives and so loved. As I read about Cash and your journey to him, I am just holding onto the hope that everything will be okay and work out as dreamed.
